Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton Announces New Tool for Public Use to Track State Legislation in Real Time

Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton (R-Crossville) unveiled a new tool the public can use to track floor calendars, legislation, amendments, and video of all House legislative initiatives in real time.

The online application, called ‘TGA House Dashboard’ gives members of the public “the same access to the legislative process as their elected officials,” according to a press release from Sexton’s office.

Sexton called the new tool a way to “enhance public transparency in the legislative process within the Tennessee House of Representatives.”

“Tennesseans want transparency in our processes, and they deserve to know more about the legislation that we are proposing and attempting to pass in the House,” Speaker Sexton said in a statement. “This new Dashboard application will give Tennesseans the same access as their representative in real-time and make the legislative process the most transparent in Tennessee that it has ever been.”

The launch of the new application was applauded by the conservative political advocacy group Americans for Prosperity – Tennessee (AFP-TN), which recently called for more government transparency during Tennessee’s General Assembly legislative session this year in its 2023 Legislative Agenda.

To increase government transparency in the state, AFP-TN proposed in its 2023 Legislative Agenda that Tennessee lawmakers work to “ensure every vote is recorded and all amendments are available to the public before voted upon,” as previously reported by The Tennessee Star.

“Tennessee taxpayers have won big today. These robust transparency measures will help citizens better follow the legislative process and hold their representatives accountable,” AFP-TN State Director Tori Venable said in a statement. “I want to thank Speaker Cameron Sexton and Representative Chris Todd for their work to make this a reality.”
